Deciduous tree, initially strictly columnar, with age it becomes more conical, the branches are arranged fan-shaped and directed upwards, the trunk is straight, to the very top.
Size:
Height 15-20 m, width 5-6 m. Annual growth in height 30 cm, in width 10 cm.
Leaves:
Arranged alternately, ovoid or oblong-elliptical, corrugated from protruding veins, 5-10 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, bright green, in autumn from dark purple to lemon-yellow.
Flowering:
The plant is monoecious, male catkins are yellow, 4-7 cm long, female catkins are green, 3 cm long, inconspicuous, pollinated by the wind.
Fruits:
Light green fruitlets, small nuts in three-lobed wrappers.
Roots:
Taproot system up to 1.4 m deep, branches out in rays, with a large number of fine roots in the upper soil layers, moderately demanding, adapts to various soil conditions.

Shade-tolerant.
Soil:
Tolerates most soils, from moderately dry to moist, deep, acidic and alkaline, grows well on not too sandy and clayey soils, tolerates stagnant water and short-term flooding, does not tolerate waterlogging.
Features:
Wind-resistant, tolerates drought and heat well, foliage improves soil structure. Refers to the species that most effectively reduce urban noise.
