Homeland - western North America. Quite drought-resistant. Evergreen shrub up to 1.5 m high. Interesting first of all for its large, leathery, shiny odd-pinnate leaves: reddish when blooming, dark green in summer, reddish-golden-bronze in autumn, especially in sunny places. The leaflets of the compound leaf resemble holly leaves in shape. The flowers are yellow, numerous, in erect, highly branched inflorescences at the ends of shoots. Blooms in early May and blooms for a month, sometimes blooms again in October. Oblong-elliptical, dark blue with a bluish bloom, edible, sweet and sour fruits up to 1 cm, ripen in early August, giving the bush a unique originality. In Europe, the most popular variety is "Apollo", which was obtained in Holland in 1973. The height and diameter of the crown are 0.6-1 m, the crown is compact. The leaves are complex, up to 30 cm long, consist of 5-7 leaflets with sharp teeth, in summer the leaves are dark green, in August - bronze. It blooms in May.
