Form: very low creeping slow-growing variety of horizontal juniper. UKR. (slanky yalivets). Spreading, thick, dense, dwarf.
Branches are ground cover, with age they lie one on top of the other. The most popular variety of juniper for creating a lawn of green junipers, quickly covers the surface. Creeping shrub, needles have a reddish color in winter.
Size: does not grow higher than 0.2 m, crown diameter up to 2.5 m.
Annual growth: 1 cm in height, 5-7 cm in width. At the age of 10 years it reaches a height of 0.2 m and a diameter of 1.5 m.
Needles: scaly, adjacent to the shoots, rich green.
Light: photophilous, tolerates slight shading.
Soil: grows on all dry, fresh, well-drained, even poor soils.
Features: Particularly frost-resistant variety.
Phytoncidal plant with a pleasant juniper aroma. Used for preventive purposes in the treatment of many diseases.
It is advisable to buy seedlings of horizontal juniper Prince of Wales in a plastic container, so the plant is not dug up with inevitable damage to the root system and after planting it is guaranteed to take root.
Fruits: forms fleshy, spherical, gray-blue with a bluish bloom cones, known as juniper berries.
Application: creeping juniper Prince of Wales is used in single plantings, groups, rock gardens, and also on slopes as a ground cover plant (planting density: 2 pcs. / sq.m.)
