Juniperus communis Hebernica has a dense crown, a narrow columnar shape. The branches are directed upwards, the ends of the branches are straight, and not hanging down like in Juniperus communis Suecica. The needles are needle-like, but not prickly, glaucous-green in color. It grows slowly. It is very frost-resistant, prefers well-lit places, but can suffer from spring sunburn. It is undemanding to the soil. It looks great in single plantings on the lawn and in group plantings, in small compositions. It was introduced into culture in the first half of the 19th century, imported from Ireland.
