Spruce prickly "Hoopsii" is a tall variety of spruce prickly. According to one version, this variety was bred in 1958 by the breeder Grotendorst in the nursery of Hopsa (thanks to the name of the nursery, spruce prickly got its varietal name). The height in our climate reaches 10-15 m, with a crown diameter of 3-5 m. Annual growth is 12-20 cm. The first years of its life, spruce prickly "Hoopsii" has a curved shape, but over the years it acquires the correct habitus. The needles are needle-like, hard, 2-3 cm long, richly blue with a silvery tint. The needles remain on the branches for up to 4-6 years. The branches extend horizontally from the trunk. The shoots are light brown. The apical buds are ovoid. Spruce prickly "Hoopsii" - quite demanding to soil and moisture. Light-loving. Reacts very well to irrigation of the crown.
