An evergreen tree native to North America. Height 15-20 m, crown diameter 6-8 m.

Annual growth in height 40 cm, in width 15 cm. Longevity 400-600 years. The bark is brown-gray, peeling. The crown is very dense. The needles are needle-like, hard, sharp, 2-3 cm long. The cones are light brown, 6-10 cm long. It is undemanding to soils. It is used as a solitaire, in groups, alleys, hedges.
